National Interactive Science Centre – Cot Lift Exhibition at Bighi

16 November 2015

The National Interactive Science Centre (NISC) Cot Lift Exhibition at Bighi

The Maltese public will soon be able to visit an exhibition which tells the story of the British Royal Navy’s Bighi Hospital. This hospital provided a crucial medical service for the British and allied forces in this strategic location in the middle of the Mediterranean.

JCS joined forces with Paragon Creative, Designmap and Big Exhibits to put together this €100,000 exhibition which forms part of Malta’s first National Interactive Science Centre (NISC) which will occupy the historic hospital complex which is being restored for the purpose. The exhibition will be located in the historic Cot Lift building which is positioned on top of a cliff overlooking the Grand Harbour. The cot lift was a historic lift designed to take wounded sailors and soldiers from the ships moored in the harbour below up to the hospital above. The lift is being upgraded to allow cruise-ship visitors to access the NISC and its exhibitions.
